Teacher Institute on Science and Sustainability (TISS)- Applications Now Available

Do you want to inspire your students to become active stewards of the environment?

Would you like to make science more relevant and engaging for your students? Apply to the Teacher Institute on Science and Sustainability and learn how to incorporate sustainability themes into your science curriculum.

TISS is an intensive two year professional development opportunity for 3rd – 5th grade teachers in the Bay area. The program begins in July and consists of 2 two-week long summer sessions, continuing professional development, and classroom support from Academy educators during the school year. The Institute focuses on energy, green buildings, food, water, and waste and supports teachers to address the California science standards through these sustainability themes.

TISS teachers receive an annual $2,000 stipend, a membership to the Academy, a class set of science journals, and more. Teams of 3-5 teachers from a school will be given preference so encourage your colleagues to apply with you.
