ENGINEER CAREER PATHWAYS
CSME has partnered with community colleges, CA counties and industrial employers to create special Engineering Career Pathways for under-served student populations. For many such students, the main academic obstruction is the gap between their algebra math level and being ready for college calculus at a university. We have created a special one-year community college mathematics sequence to bridge this gap. Coursework is infused with real-world applications, and students are supported with funding for fees, and books, mentoring and workshops.
Partners include: NASA; the Workforce Investment Boards of Santa Ana, Alameda, and San Mateo Counties; City College of SF, Chabot, Canada, Saddleback, Palomar, and Santa Ana Community Colleges. Funding has come from the Dept of Labor and private foundations.
