STAR Internship
CSME has arranged for two cohorts of STAR Interns in Summers of 2008 and 2009. If funding permits, we hope to arrange for another cohort in Summer 2015. Here is information about the internship.
Summary
The STAR pre-service and early career science teacher summer research program provides CSU science majors or single subject credential students/recent graduates who are planning to be 6-12th grade science teachers the opportunity to engage in paid laboratory research internships. Participate in research with national research labs such as NASA Ames and The Lawrence Livermore National Labs! Learn new skills in science teaching for Grades 6-12!
Who
CSU science, math or engineering students in their junior or senior years who are interested in pursuing a middle or high school science teaching career, recent science or engineering graduates who have applied to or are enrolled in a CSU teacher credential program, or recent graduates from a CSU teacher credential program are eligible to apply. Science teachers in their first three years of teaching are eligible to apply if they are a graduate of a CSU science, engineering or credential program.
What
STAR fellows will be paid a $4,000 stipend for completing an eight-week research internship and science education program. Housing costs, if needed, may also be covered by the STAR program. Fellows will have the opportunity to enroll in additional research and science teaching seminar courses through CSU campuses to obtain university or professional development credit for their summer experience.
When
June 15-August 15, 2015. The full eight week commitment is required.
