JULIA ROBINSON MATH FESTIVAL

The JULIA ROBINSON MATH FESTIVAL is a coordinated set of math fairs which hope to inspire middle school students to enjoy math and pursue related careers.  CSME runs an annual JRMF on campus which attracts over a hundred students from across the city.  JRMF is an unusual math contest which places more emphasis on collaboration than competition: participants can help each other.  Many tables are laid out with activities, puzzles, games, and problems and students can freely move about.  If table participants show insight, creativity, or perseverance, the facilitator at the table gives them tickets for a fair raffle, with prizes such as books, gear, and museum tours.
