Job description

Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), a non-profit organization founded in 1963, is dedicated to preparing students to lead by example in their families, communities, and careers. SEO Scholars provides motivated public high school students with an out-of-school supplemental academic curriculum, college guidance and the leadership development necessary to gain admission to, and succeed at, competitive colleges and universities.

PURPOSE:

SEO Scholars San Francisco is currently seeking a part-time Math Instructor to teach during our weekday (Monday-Thursday) after-school program from 4:30-6:30pm. Candidates who have partial weekday availability will still be considered.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructors will be supplied with a curriculum, including syllabi, instructional handouts, activity sheets, homework assignments, and rubrics/grading guidelines. We favor a pedagogical approach that includes direct instruction and modeling as well as small group and independent work. This requires that instructors “bring to life” the SEO Scholars curriculum, remain flexible in their pedagogy, and work to create and manage an effective, engaging learning environment. Instructors are also responsible for tracking homework completion, compiling quarterly grades, providing feedback on student issues, and upholding SEO policies and principles.
