We are seeking a full-time instructor in mathematics to begin July 2012. The instructor is responsible for 3 courses each trimester. Each class meets for eighty minutes four times a week in a rotating schedule. In addition to class preparation and classroom teaching, the instructor is responsible for:

  • curricular development and alignment
  • design of skills-based assessments
  • grading
  • regular communication with the student, her/his parents, and the student’s advisor regarding the student’s progress
  • one-on-one student tutorial as needed

All teaching faculty have additional duties, such as serving as an advisor, chaperone at social events, and an admissions interviewer; all of these duties support the well-being of our community and the growth of the individual student.

The ideal candidate will

–possess a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or physics (a Master’s degree or higher is preferred) as well as experience in teaching (preferably at the high school level)

–be able to teach all levels of a high school mathematics curriculum, from Algebra I to Calculus

–have experience with collaborative curriculum design

–have experience with a constructivist, student-centered classroom

–find resonance with the Bay School’s educational approach and philosophy

–bring a diversity of teaching and life experience to our community

–be passionate about teaching math to high school learners

–be a strong contributor and colleague to the mathematics department
