AAAS seeks Volunteers for “Public Science Day” in San Jose
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will be hosting its annual meeting next month in San Jose, CA. During the meeting AAAS will be hosting a “Public Science Day” (PSD) event. For 25 years, PSD been the opening event for the AAAS Annual Meeting, engaging local students in science through interactive and hands-on experiences. Public Science Day occurs on the Thursday before the annual meeting, this year on February 12th.
Shaped by the needs of the city where the meeting is being held, AAAS Public Science Day inspires K-12 students to understand the increasing importance of science and technology in their lives. Public Science Day specifically targets school groups and after-school programs that might not normally have access to the resources within their community, including those in underserved communities, as well as foster youth and children with disabilities.
AAAS is looking for volunteers to guide students through interactive booths around the subjects of science, math, engineering, and architecture. Volunteers can help for a few hours or a full day—whatever fits your schedule. Please see full details below and feel free to share widely with your campus networks.
