Part-time Fall Semester Math Instructor
Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, a non-profit organization founded in 1963, is dedicated to preparing students to lead by example in their families, communities, and careers. SEO Scholars San Francisco is currently seeking a part-time SEO Math Instructor to begin in the fall semester to teach during our weekday after-school program from 4:30-6:30pm. Instructors will be supplied with a curriculum, including syllabi, instructional handouts, activity sheets, homework assignments, and rubrics/grading guidelines. We favor a pedagogical approach that includes direct instruction and modeling as well as small group and independent work. This requires that instructors “bring to life” the SEO Scholars curriculum, remain flexible in their pedagogy, and work to create and manage an effective, engaging learning environment. Instructors are also responsible for tracking homework completion, compiling quarterly grades, providing feedback on student issues, and upholding SEO policies and principles.
Qualifications include:
- A creative professional with a strong background in Math and passion for teaching
- Has high school or college-level teaching experience
- Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Math or some related field (Master’s Degree in Math, Education and/or California Teaching Certification are desired but not required.)
- The candidate must enjoy working with high school students. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.
Note: Experience working with diverse staff and student population and familiarity with interdisciplinary curricula will strengthen applications.
